Hot-Swappable Keyboard
Hot-swap sockets let you pull switches out and push new ones in by hand, with no soldering, so you can change the typing feel later.
On a traditional mechanical keyboard, each switch is soldered to the circuit board. Changing the feel means desoldering dozens of joints — in practice, buying a new board.
Hot-swap boards replace those solder joints with sockets. Switches lift out with a puller and press back in, a few minutes' work for the whole board.
This matters because switch preference is the most personal decision in a keyboard, and it is very hard to judge from a description. Linear, tactile and clicky feel completely different under the finger.
