A case looks like the least technical part of a build โ it's a box. But it decides the temperature every other component runs at, and the single biggest factor is something you can see from the front: whether air can actually get in.

The front panel is the whole argument
Intake fans mounted behind a sealed glass or solid metal front panel have almost nowhere to draw air from โ they pull through whatever narrow side gaps exist. A perforated or mesh panel lets those same fans draw freely, which is why two cases with identical fans can run at noticeably different temperatures.
This matters most for the components that dump heat into the case rather than out of it. A graphics card with open-fan cooling vents into the chassis, so the case has to move that air out. If intake is choked, the card recirculates its own warm air.
