Path of Exile 2 Currency Guide: Exalted vs Divine Orbs — What to Buy and When

Path of Exile 2 rebuilt the currency system around Exalted Orbs as the everyday trade unit, with Divine Orbs sitting at the top for high-value deals. Knowing which to hold — and when each is cheap — is the difference between an efficient league and a wasted budget.

What each orb actually does
Exalted Orbs add a new affix to a rare item and serve as the standard pricing unit for the vast majority of player trades — think of them as the market's cash. Divine Orbs reroll the numeric values of existing affixes, which makes them the finishing tool for perfecting endgame gear and the de facto unit for expensive items.
Because Divines are consumed by min-maxers perfecting near-perfect items, their value relative to Exalts climbs as a league matures and more players reach that stage.
League timing: when each is cheap
Early league, Exalted Orbs are in heavy demand for gearing and pricing, while few players need Divines yet — so Divines are relatively cheap in Exalt terms. Late league flips this: the Divine-to-Exalt ratio typically rises as endgame crafting dominates.
For buyers, that suggests a simple rule: if you're gearing up mid-league, buy Exalts in bulk for everyday trades. If you're planning a serious crafting project, secure Divines earlier than you think you'll need them.
Bulk pricing and delivery
Marketplace sellers discount steeply at volume — per-orb prices on large Exalt bundles routinely undercut small packs by 20–30%. Delivery happens through a hideout trade: the seller parties up, visits your hideout and completes a normal trade window exchange, usually within ten minutes of the order.
As always, confirm the league and platform on the listing. Standard, current challenge league, Softcore and Hardcore are all separate economies, and console economies split again unless crossplay trade applies.
